Art Village Gallery
Art Village Gallery was founded by Ephraim Urevbu in 1998. Started as a small art studio space, it has grown to become an entire art community supporting the work of international artists from Africa, Southeast Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Art Village Gallery was also a pioneer in establishing the monthly art walk and the Historic South Main Arts District in downtown Memphis.
Today, Art Village Gallery has over 7,000 square feet of exhibition space devoted to original works of art by a whole range of talented international artists, with a focus on Africa and its Diaspora. The gallery pays particular attention to exotic art created by emerging and yet unknown artists from developing countries. Besides, Art Village Gallery frequently launches performing art and literary events, music and art documentary series, exhibition dinners, lectures, gallery talks, and other events inspiring an appreciation for culture and diversity.
Exotic Works of Art at VOLTA New York 2020
In addition to its own programming, Art Village Gallery takes part in the international art fairs. At Fine Art Shippers, we were lucky to visit the gallery at the recent edition of VOLTA New York, which was held on March 4-8. Art Village Gallery had a wonderful presentation featuring works by the talented Ethiopian artist Zeinu Mudeser and Ephraim Urevbu himself.
It was one of the best art presentations at VOLTA New York 2020! Art Village Gallery is a unique gallery, and it is definitely worth visiting!
