Lori Horowitz is a talented mixed-media artist from New York. Since 2015, she has participated in over 80 national group exhibitions, had 12 solo shows, and displayed her work in many cities worldwide. Horowitz is most well-known for using non-traditional materials and techniques. Her art is inspired by the world she sees around her, the people whose stories she tells, and the nature she has found a deep connection to. “Rooted in Humanity,” Lori Horowitz’s new solo exhibition that will open in April at the Manor House Annex Gallery at the Bayard Cutting Arboretum, will feature a series of her latest pieces inspired by the landscape of the beautiful tree garden designed by Frederick Law Olmsted.
New Solo Exhibition by the Mixed-Media Artist Lori Horowitz
Curated by Victoria Beckert and Mireille Belajonas, “Rooted in Humanity” will present over 30 mixed-media relief paintings and sculptures by Lori Horowitz. By highlighting the anthropomorphic features of tree root formations and fungi, which Horowitz photographed herself, she strives to show that humans are inherently connected to nature. In her work, the artist explores the loneliness and isolation we often feel in the ever-changing modern world. To create visually enticing sculptural pieces, she uses a variety of materials, such as wire, wax, paint, and torched copper.
We highly recommend that you visit the Bayard Cutting Arboretum at 440 Montauk Hwy, Great River, NY, this April and enjoy the new works by Lori Horowitz at the Manor House Annex Gallery. “Rooted in Humanity” will take place from April 4 through April 28, 2024. The opening reception will be held on April 7. On April 21, at 1pm, the artist will give a live talk to celebrate Earth Day. Don’t miss the opportunity to join Lori Horowitz for a tour and learn more about her art!
