Are you looking for something exciting to do during Miami Art Week 2023? Of course, there is no shortage of art-related events in Miami all year round. However, there is no denying that during the first week of December, this city becomes a truly magical place with more art fairs and shows in one square mile than almost anywhere in the world. If you happen to find yourself in the middle of this amazing celebration of art and creativity, we recommend that you come to the Margulies Collection at the Warehouse. Let us tell you all about our one-of-a-kind experience during our recent visit to this outstanding place.
Fine Art Shippers Visited the Margulies Collection at the Warehouse
Located in the famous Wynwood Arts District, on the corner of NW 27th Street and 6th Avenue, the Margulies Collection at the Warehouse is a nonprofit institution dedicated to showcasing the collection of Martin Z. Margulies, a well-known art and photography collector. The Margulies Collection owns a spectacular collection of contemporary art and hosts seasonal exhibitions and educational programs. The location at the Warehouse officially opened in 1999 with a charitable opening event, after which it gradually expanded to 50,000 square feet of publicly available gallery space.
The institution masterfully utilizes the vast expanse of the renovated warehouse to create a unique and immersive experience. When you enter the Warehouse, you begin a journey of limitless multi-dimensional exploration: traditional art forms such as paintings and sculptures coexist harmoniously with digital installations and video art. The exhibition space is truly universal, with white walls, floors, and ceilings providing a white canvas for whatever future exhibitions have in store.
While the Margulies Collection exhibits new exciting shows each season, its permanent display deserves a special mention. Fine Art Shippers visited the institution on December 4 and had the opportunity to see it in person. Among the pieces that caught our attention were installations by Gilles Barbier, depicting a nursing home for retired superheroes, and the massive repurposed overturned truck by Barry McGee.
Being able to visit outstanding art institutions and events is one of the best parts of our job as fine art handlers. The art scene in Florida is incredibly diverse and rich, and we feel that very strongly every time we come to Miami. Fine Art Shippers highly recommends visiting the Margulies Collection at the Warehouse to anyone who wants to see some of the best works of contemporary art in person.
