Fun Ways to Celebrate Thanksgiving Day with Family and Friends

One of the most popular and loved fall holidays in the United States, Thanksgiving Day is a perfect way to reflect on the blessings of the past year before the Christmas frenzy begins. However, there are many other ways to spend this day than recalling everything you are grateful for while chewing on the delicious turkey. The Fine Art Shippers team wishes you a happy Thanksgiving and shares our favorite activities for this special day.

Thanksgiving Day with a Family

There is no better way to feel thankful for your family than to go through the best memories you share. Take time to flip through family photos with your loved ones to add a nostalgic touch to your holiday. After the dinner wraps you, you can all cuddle on a couch for the “remember when” banter.

Another fun way to spend family time indoors is to create a video. Capturing shared happy moments is great not only for engaging kids but also for creating your own video library to re-watch every year. You can be creative and let every family member film the day from their perspective and then edit the pieces together.

Going out to eat is a great way to eliminate the stress of having to brainstorm the menu and cook a large meal for the whole family. Plenty of restaurants offer holiday menus, so you don’t have to miss out on turkey and pumpkin pie. However, we highly recommend booking your visit in advance.

Spending Thanksgiving with Friends

If you cannot join your family for Thanksgiving Day, organize Friendsgiving! As you may easily infer from the name, this relatively new term refers to a holiday dinner with friends. The great thing about Friendsgiving is that you get this cozy, homely feeling even if you are not around your family. You can cook the dinner yourself, welcome your friends to participate in the preparation, or simply ask everyone to bring a dish. Finally, Friendsgiving should not necessarily be about close friends. You can invite anyone who does not have a family around: colleagues, neighbors, and friends of friends.

Giving back to the community is also a wonderful way to spend Thanksgiving with friends. You can join local charity organizations collecting food for those in need. You can also organize a free dinner to help people enjoy an hour or two of warm food and drinks and a cozy atmosphere. Trust us, engaging in volunteering is a much more fulfilling and suitable activity for Thanksgiving than killing time on your couch.

Happy Thanksgiving!
