Fine Art Shippers Met with the Founder of the Naum Knop Foundation

The Fine Art Shippers team is forever grateful for the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with our colleagues and partners. During Miami Art Week 2023, we had the honor of meeting up with Pablo Knop, our friend and the son of Naum Knop, a renowned Argentinian sculptor. Ilya Kushnirskiy, SEO of Fine Art Shippers, met with Pablo in Miami to discuss future plans and art projects in the relaxing atmosphere of a local restaurant.

Naum Knop was a truly remarkable figure in the history of Latin American and Argentinian art. Drawing inspiration from masters of modernity and antiquity, he uniquely reworked their themes and motives, developing his own interpretation of the established tradition. The artist often chose the human form as the focus of this work. His interest in movement translated into everything he made, from fragmentized figurative sculptures to more abstract pieces. With bronze and wood being Knop’s primary mediums, his work is an endless exploration of what can be achieved within the constraints of plastic art. The artist’s works on paper deserve a separate mention, as they allow us to see a translation of iconic features of Knop’s style into a different plane.

After the Argentinian sculptor passed away in 1993, his sons worked extensively to preserve his legacy. In 1999, they established the Naum Knop Foundation, an institution dedicated to conservating and popularizing the art of the late artist. In 2019, Pablo Knop renovated the building in Buenos Aires, which used to be his father’s old studio, into a house museum. In 2023, the Foundation held the Legacy Exhibition, a show dedicated to celebrating the work of seventeen modern Argentine artists. The project was a collaborative effort of close relatives of the featured artists.

We are happy to see that the Naum Knop Foundation is prospering, as the preservation of art and culture is incredibly important to us. Fine Art Shippers is beyond honored to have Pablo Knop as our friend and partner. We wish him good luck with the upcoming projects and look forward to working with him in the future.
