A new painting exhibition by the Greek contemporary painter Yannis Vakirtzis, titled C’est la vie, invites viewers to explore the complexity of everyday life through art. Presented by Braggart Gallery in Larissa, Greece, the exhibition will run from October 25 to December 31, 2026. Visitors can discover the artist’s work through Artsy and experience his distinctive perspective on contemporary society and human nature.
C’est la vie: A Painting Exhibition Exploring the Psychology of Everyday Life
Yannis Vakirtzis examines the small and significant moments that shape human experience. His paintings depict people navigating busy marketplaces and urban environments, capturing the tension between challenging living conditions and seemingly carefree behavior.

Through psychological observation, the artist explores emotional detachment and the human desire for connection. His expressive visual language reveals the contradictions of everyday existence, encouraging viewers to recognize their own experiences in the scenes portrayed.
Vakirtzis’s style combines expressive dynamism with psychological depth. Intersections of light and shadow create a sense of movement and tension, while carefully constructed compositions and essential colors keep the focus on the subject. Without unnecessary embellishments, his paintings uncover the hidden poetry of ordinary activities and the daily struggle to move forward.
Rather than simply documenting routine, C’est la vie offers a sincere reflection on human vulnerability, resilience, and imperfection. The works invite viewers to consider how everyday challenges shape their lives and whether familiar difficulties have truly hurt them or simply caused displeasure.
About Yannis Vakirtzis
Born in Piraeus, Greece, Yannis Vakirtzis grew up surrounded by harbor scenes that continue to influence his paintings. His mother, also a painter, gave him his first art lessons. He later studied at the Higher School of Fine Arts in Athens and pursued postgraduate studies in France, where sculptors César and Arman supported his artistic explorations.
Vakirtzis has exhibited his paintings at galleries and art museums and received numerous awards and expressions of recognition. He has also participated in video art festivals in the United States.
His artistic approach moves beyond strictly iconographic or photographic representations, emphasizing the sensitivity of the human gaze. He considers learning an ongoing part of his practice and compares his artistic journey to the challenges faced by Odysseus in Homer’s epic.
The painting exhibition C’est la vie will take place at Braggart Gallery, 55 Papakyriazi Street, Larissa, Greece, through December 31, 2026. It offers an opportunity to explore Vakirtzis’s distinctive interpretation of human nature through contemporary art.
