Fine Art Shippers had the honor of working with the Zimmerli Art Museum located on one of the campuses of Rutgers University in New Jersey. Our company transported an entire collection of valuable artworks from the museum to an exhibition of Ukrainian avant-garde artists, titled “Painting in Excess: Kyiv’s Art Revival 1985-1993,” at the Coral Gables Museum in Florida. The funds collected during the exhibition were donated toward helping the Ukrainian people. We were extremely glad to assist the Zimmerli Art Museum in transporting art for this important exhibition.
Transporting Art Pieces to Florida for the Zimmerli Art Museum
The Zimmerli Art Museum is considered one of the largest university-based museums in the US. It exhibits artworks by international and national artists, making a great contribution to the preservation and research of art and its history. The Zimmerli Art Museum aims to make art accessible to everyone by hosting various educational programs. Moreover, the museum is committed to uplighting the voices of marginalized communities and creating a space where everyone can get an equally fulfilling experience.
Formerly known as the Rutgers University Art Gallery, the Zimmerli Art Museum was established in 1983. It was named after Jane Voorhees Zimmerli, the mother of its founders, Ralph and Alan Voorhees. The museum is famous for its extensive one-of-a-kind collection of Nonconformist Art from the Soviet Union. It was donated by Dr. Norton Dodge and Nancy Ruyle Dodge in 1991 and featured around 20,000 pieces by almost a thousand artists from Russia and former Soviet territories.
Today, the Zimmerli Art Museum has more than 60,000 artworks in its possession. European Art, Asian Art, Art of the Americas, and Original Illustrations for Children’s Literature are heavily represented in the museum’s collection.
