Iryna Fedorenko, internationally known as SEMIRA, is a talented Ukrainian artist with a unique visual language and deeply symbolic, emotional paintings. Fedorenko left Ukraine after the start of the Russian invasion and currently lives and works in Germany. This September, the artist invites everyone to her new exhibition “Mehr als Worte (More Than Words),” which recently opened at SchauRaum im Ackermannbogen, one of the Munich galleries with which Iryna has a long-standing partnership.
“Mehr als Worte,” a New Exhibition of Iryna Fedorenko’s Art in Munich
The Munich exhibition by SEMIRA offers a unique opportunity to view her paintings created from 2022 to 2025. This period was transformative for the artist in all aspects, as she had to settle in a new place and start a new page in her life and creative career while comprehending the horror of the war at the same time. Most importantly, the exhibition unifies almost all the paintings of Fedorenko’s “Children of War” series after their lengthy travels and loans to museums and galleries around the world. Some of them were presented at the famous Venice Biennale and even the European Parliament. “Mehr als Worte” gives a great chance to see them all in one place, as after the exhibition, they will continue their travels.
The exhibition was organized with the support of KulturBüro. Its purpose is to invite visitors on a journey through feelings and cherished memories, where art communicates human emotion better than a thousand words. Iryna Fedorenko’s images talk of loss and pain, but they also feature the symbols of hope and courage – the fusion of feelings that a woman fleeing war in her motherland transforms into emotionally evoking art. Vibrant colors and delicate textures fuse in Fedorenko’s paintings to transform her personal experiences into visuals that transcend geographical, cultural, and linguistic barriers.
“Mehr als Worte” opened at SchauRaum im Ackermannbogen on September 17, 2025, and is available for viewing until September 27, 2025, with the official finissage scheduled for 3pm.
Upcoming Exhibitions by SEMIRA
Besides the current exhibition at SchauRaum im Ackermannbogen, SEMIRA invites everyone to her upcoming events scheduled for this fall. Among them is a new exhibition titled “Different,” which is planned to be held within the framework of TRACES, an international festival of contemporary art. The event starts in Munich on October 2, so we are waiting for the news from Iryna Fedorenko in the near future.
