Women’s History Month Exhibitions Featuring Art by Lori Horowitz
The New York Society of Women Artists (NYSWA), which Lori Horowitz is a member of, will hold an exhibition at the Steinberg Museum in Brookville, NY. A show titled “All Together Now: Innovation through Creation” will feature over 40 works of art in a variety of mediums, created by the members of the organization. The exhibition aims to draw attention to the issues that women continue to face to this day, as well as show the resilience of women in times of chaos and hopelessness. Lori Horowitz will present a mixed-media sculpture from her Exodus series, which was inspired by the isolation that engulfed the world during the global pandemic. The show starts on March 2 and will run through May 27, 2024, at the Steinberg Museum.
In New York City, Lori Horowitz’s work will be showcased at Viridian Artists, a gallery located in the very heart of the historical Chelsea neighborhood. Her figurative sculpture “Shrouded” will be shown as part of the “HERSTORY” exhibition. The ongoing battle for equal rights in social and political spheres has inspired the gallery to present a diverse selection of pieces by over 30 artists of all genders. “HERSTORY” will be on view until March 16, 2024, with an opening event on February 29 at 6pm.
Finally, the NYC-based gallery El Museo de Barrio will hold the 2024 edition of the annual “Women Celebrate Women” exhibition. Curated by Yvonne Lamar-Rogers, this show will feature Lori Horowitz’s mixed media relief sculptures from her “From the Earth” series. Titled “Under Growth” and “Venus,” these pieces are based on photographs of root formations and fungi resembling human form, which the artists took on her nature walks. You can visit “Women Celebrate Women 2024” from March 6 through March 30 at El Museo de Barrio.
