On April 4, Lichtundfire, an NYC-based gallery focusing on non-representational and abstract art, opened a new exhibition titled “The Magical Garden.” Conceptualized by Priska Juschka, the show features a selection of paper-based works exploring the relationship between humanity and nature. One of the featured artists is Vian Borchert, an established contemporary artist and our long-time friend. At “The Magical Garden,” Vian presents four pieces dedicated to the beauty of the cherry blossom season. The show is on view at Lichtundfire through April 27, 2024.

Vian Borchert grew up in a family of highly creative people. Her parents’ interest in art and science made her the well-rounded, multi-faced person she is today. Vian’s work combines her interest in ancient philosophy, science, and unconditional love for the world around her. As a result, the artist is incredibly perceptive and observant, which is reflected in all her pieces.

Vian Borchert is a master of abstraction. Drawing inspiration from her surroundings, she constructs metaphorical worlds full of emotion, energy, and magic. Vian is a very prolific artist whose works have been shown at numerous shows across the US and the world. Recently, her “Into the Blues” painting was featured at the “Exodus to Inland” exhibition at the Medinaceli DeArte Museum in Spain.

Vian’s love for nature has always been part of her art. The artist recently presented a series of works inspired by the mystical phenomenon of the Catatumbo Lightning. She is also well known for her atmospheric and ephemeral abstract skyscapes that showcase her profound understanding of color and how it affects one’s mood and perception.

For “The Magical Garden,” Vian Borchert created a series of paintings depicting blooming cherry flowers. In her artwork statement, the artist says that this series has a very personal meaning to her. As a young child playing in her family’s gardens, she was constantly surrounded by flowers and trees. As a grownup living in the Washington, DC, area, she was mesmerized by the cherry trees that bloom there every spring. Her abstract art reflects the joy one feels when surrounded by the all-encompassing beauty of nature. Vian’s new paintings titled “Spring Sonata,” “Sakura,” “Midnight Blooms,” and “Moonlight Blossoms” are on view at Lichtundfire until April 27. Don’t miss them!
